#WIT2018

Starting your own business and picking the right niche in no time

Join us for the fifth annual Women in Technology event in downtown Portsmouth!

This year's theme, "Seeing Herself There," represents the importance of role models and mentors to young women entering STEM fields. Without other women to look toward, it is difficult for women to see themselves in the roles to which they aspire.

We are excited to welcome Gaynelle Swann as our Keynote Speaker. A lifetime STEM/STEAM and Diversity Advocate, Gaynelle has a compelling story to share. We can't wait for you to meet her.

Catering by BARRIO and cash bar throughout the evening.

GAYNELLE SWANN

Gaynelle Swann joined the recently established College of Engineering, Technology, Aeronautics (CETA) at Southern New Hampshire University in May 2017.  With graduate and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, her 26+ year professional career spans a range of experiences in research, automotive and defense industries as a product design engineer, manufacturing systems engineer, lead systems engineer, engineering manager, contracts manager, program manager, and business & technology strategist.

As the Associate Dean of Academics, she was responsible for development and oversight of new academic programs, implementation of joint initiatives with other colleges of the University, continuous program evaluation procedures for accreditation, faculty evaluation, scheduling of courses and coordination of adjunct faculty; as well as maintaining a close relationship with University leadership, CETA staff, faculty, and students.  Additionally, Gaynelle incorporated industry needs and her experiences in the development of new multidisciplinary courses.

As a STEM/STEAM and Diversity Advocate, she has presented at regional and national conferences, mentors college students in technical programs of study, collaborates with industry colleagues to share knowledge and experiences, internship and fulltime employment opportunities, and is committed to influencing and building effective STEM pathways for all students, K through Post-Graduate.  Gaynelle serves on the board of trustees for the Academy for Science and Design in Nashua, NH; holds national recognition as a Woman of Color in Government and Defense, is a recipient of the YWCA Tucson Woman on the Move award; and has been featured in past technical and diversity publications.  She is an innovator, change champion, collaborator, team builder, with grit and determination to continue to shape the future landscape for tomorrow’s technology leaders today.
